Producer/Director/Writer
Sean A. Reid was born in Cleveland, Ohio. With his father being a journalist and entertainment executive, and his stepmother a well-known actress, Reid was exposed to all facets of the creative process at an early age. At age 12, Reid went with his father to an independent theater in New York City to see Woody Allen’s "Zelig." Immediately inspired, young Reid decided to pursue a film career.
Accepted into the highly regarded American Film Institute’s Youth and Film Program, Reid wrote, produced and directed short films during his pre-teen years. He attended Sonoma State University, where he studied English and Philosophy. Reid began developing his filmmaking skills as a first assistant director on several independent features and music videos.
Reid’s television production experience includes music supervisor/producer for "America’s Funniest Home Videos"; assignment editor for the CBS program "Day and Date"; and assignment manager for E! News Live. Reid has written, produced and directed numerous music segments for television, including performances by Everclear, Peter Frampton, Robert Palmer, Steel Pulse and Smashmouth. In addition, he was director/producer of the 2003 DVD Premiere Awards (Daily Variety), with host Ben Stein.
Reid produced and directed the feature length video "The Last Cabaret," and also wrote, produced and directed a public service announcement (35mm) for Cocaine Anonymous called "Smokescreen."
In 2003, Reid completed REDEMPTION an independent feature film that he co-wrote, produced and directed. REDEMPTION tells the gripping story of a middle-class, African American actor’s struggle with Hollywood’s temptations and his own integrity. After a successful festival run REDEMPTION was released by Artisan Home Entertainment.
In 2005, Reid directed “A Raisin in the Sun” at The Players Guild Theater in Canton, Ohio to excellent reviews. Reid was also selected to produce and 1st AD a short film as part of the Cleveland State University film program “Picture This: The Filmmakers Program@CSU.” “Picture This” is a two year series of activities in support of regional filmmaking. Reid was selected for this honor over all the top film professionals in the Northeast Ohio area.
In 2005, Sean produced the live action feature film HORRORS OF WAR. The film had a limited theatrical release in the spring and summer of 2006, opening to a sold out show, and closing with a sold out show at the Two Boots Pioneer Theater in New York City’s East Village. HORRORS OF WAR has played in excess of 20 film festivals and is now in worldwide video release, and has received awards including Best Special Effects at the Fright Night Film Festival.
Sean has returned to Los Angeles where he produces televisions spots for programs including Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne”.
